Benefits of Sermorelin GHRH – Side effects and dosage

These days it feels like you can’t be in a gym 5 minutes before you hear some beefy guy babbling on about anabolic steroids, growth hormones and peptides like Sermorelin.

Whilst it’s easy to listen to those bodybuilders and become consumed by the potential benefits, we need to take a closer look into synthetic drugs like Sermorelin, identify the correct dosage and discover the potential side effects too.

We will be completely blown away if you’ve never heard of steroids before now. If you’ve been in the gym enough, you may have even heard stories of roid rage. Well, what we’re going to find out today is what peptides are and how do they work?

Peptides: what are they?

Peptides have been promoted through the ranks when it comes to those performance-enhancing aids within the bodybuilding community. These short chains of amino acids are tiny molecules that form the building blocks of proteins, supporting muscle mass growth.

More specifically, growth hormone secretagogues (GHS) is a type of peptide that has gained the most interest.

How come?

Many bodybuilders seek to alter their body fat and composition as quickly and efficiently as possible, using the likes of SARMs and steroids. But of course, anabolic steroids come with their own side order of possible (and very nasty) side effects.

Some of those experienced users believe that peptides, GHSs in particular, are a more natural alternative to popular bodybuilding steroids. Whilst also having the potential to boost muscle mass, lower body fat and enhance workout performance.

Similar to the natural production of growth hormone, peptides are also naturally occurring, as well as being found in food. Although these short chains of amino acids are involved in a number of processes in the body, their support in building muscle mass is what makes them the most popular with bodybuilders.

These peptides can be found in the below foods:

  • Dairy
  • Eggs
  • Beans
  • Meat
  • Fish
  • Lentils
  • Whole grains

Sermorelin, what is it?

Typically referred to as ‘Sermorelin HGH’ ‘Sermorelin Acetate’ and ‘GRF 1-29 NH 2’, Sermorelin therapy looks to increase human growth hormone levels, which promotes improved sleep quality, improved energy, higher muscle mass and lowered body fat.

Although, whilst Sermorelin is often referred to as ‘Sermorelin HGH’, it isn’t a synthetic growth hormone. As a matter of fact, it’s actually a synthetically made version of growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH), responsible for stimulating the natural production of growth hormone.

It’s produced by the pituitary gland, growth hormone is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies, with very few of us actually experiencing a true human growth hormone deficiency.

Categorized as a growth hormone secretagogue, Sermorelin works by binding to the growth hormone releasing hormone receptor (GHRHr), in the pituitary gland. Here, it spikes pituitary function, promoting HGH production.

Sermorelin’s original use was actually to used to get a diagnosis and treat poor growth in patients, most children. Meaning like all other SARMs and peptides etc, it was only created for clinical use.

Sermorelin peptides and other peptides

Sermorelin HGH and other peptides have rapidly gained a large volume of interest from bodybuilders for stimulating growth hormone, enhancing muscle growth and helping users lose weight.

Although, typically, the focus is on growth hormone, peptides such as Sermorelin achieve these goals by partly stimulating the liver to release insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). Then, IGF-1 works to trigger muscle protein production, helping users build muscle mass – while also promoting the breakdown of body fat.

As synthetic HGH was banned by the likes of the International Olympic Committee from 1989 onwards, users previously using HGH drugs looked for a new alternative. Seeing as bodybuilders have explored new avenues, many claim that GHSs offer many benefits of HGH, with fewer side effects and risk.

The most popular GHSs used for bodybuilding include:

  • Growth-hormone releasing hormones: such as sermorelin, tesamorelin, CJC-1293, and CJC-1295
  • Ghrelin and compounds mimicking its actions: such as lenomorelin, anamorelin, ipamorelin, macimorelin, and tabimorelin
  • Growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRPs): such as alexamorelin, GHRP-1, GHRP-2, GHRP-3, GHRP-4, GHRP-5, GHRP-6, and hexarelin

Sermorelin vs HGH

So, why should users opt for Sermorelin vs human growth hormone?

Although many users seek ‘Sermorelin HGH’, Sermorelin isn’t actually a growth hormone itself. So, unlike a synthetic growth hormone drug, you’re not putting growth hormone into your body, but instead stimulating the pituitary gland and HGH production.

With HGH prohibited for off-label use, HGH therapy is typically only used in a medical setting, for conditions that may cause muscle wastage – not for bodybuilding.

If we go by this comparison of Sermorelin and synthetic HGH, Sermorelin should have fewer side effects.

Benefits of Sermorelin

By encouraging your body to produce more human growth hormone, Sermorelin stimulates natural HGH production, resulting in a variety of benefits, including:

  • Increased muscle
  • Increased lean body mass
  • Decreased body fat
  • Faster recovery after a workout and injury/quicker wound healing
  • Enhanced flexibility and joint health
  • Higher sleep quality
  • Overall improved health
  • Improved sexual performance and libido
  • Increased collagen production – it’s said to slow the aging process

Administered via subcutaneous injection, Sermorelin is known for its ability to stimulate the production of IGF-1, resulting in fat loss, therefore enhancing lean muscle mass.

Not only does it help users melt away fat to reveal lean muscle, Sermorelin shrinks recovery times meaning you can hit the gym sooner, whilst enhancing your stamina, bone mineral density, and bone strength.

As our sleep plays a crucial role in weight loss and building muscle, Sermorelin’s ability to help you achieve a deep sleep also benefits your gains.

Sermorelin and GRF 1-29: What’s the difference?

A quick peruse online and you’ll soon see there is confusion between Sermorelin and Modified GRF 1-29. Yes, they are both peptides, but they do have notable differences.

Whilst both are comprised of 29 amino acids and are similar in structure, Modified GRF 1-29 has been altered with changes to four specific amino acids within its chemical makeup. These alterations have been created to increase its stability during storage, transport, and administration.

Using Sermorelin and Testosterone Cypionate together

If you’re someone that is suffering from low testosterone, it is not unusual for some users of Sermorelin to combine its use with Testosterone Cypionate.

However, both of these do require an injection. So if you’re not so keen on the presence of needles, perhaps give this one a miss.

Some benefits of doing so may include:

  • Increased libido
  • Increased HGH levels

Dosage of Sermorelin

To be able to stimulate growth hormone release correctly, you’ll need to ensure you’re getting the right Sermorelin dosage.

You’ll need to be administering 200 to 1000mcg (0.25 to 1mg), 1-3 times a day.

The range of 200 to 1000mcg is the most common dosage of Sermorelin. Generally, the peptide is either administered once daily before bed or split into 2 or 3 smaller doses spread throughout the day.

Sermorelin half life is a shockingly short 10 to 20 minutes. Despite this, it has been shown to stimulate an acute release of growth hormone for 2 hours after administration.

As a result, protocols delivering 3 daily doses of as little as 100mcg (0.1mg) per administration have been shown to cause a significant increase in GH and IGF-1 secretion.

Sermorelin: are there any side effects?

Unsurprisingly, like all the other types of performance enhancing drugs, Sermorelin does come with its own set of potential side effects. The issue is, as, with anabolic steroids, there are very few clinical studies to support their benefits.

Not only this, but the lack of clinical studies means we are somewhat unaware of their short and long term side effects. When used outside of their diagnostic use, here are some of the most common side effects of Sermorelin acetate:

  • Flushing
  • Headaches
  • Pain at the injection site
  • Dizziness
  • Sleepiness (due to its impact on GH and cortisol levels)

Additionally, drug interactions of Sermorelin may include glucocorticoid medication. With continued administration of Sermorelin, some users claimed these symptoms rapidly cleared.

However, many report pain at the injection site with use each time.

Is Sermorelin legal?

Currently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has only approved a handful of GHS to treat specific medical conditions via prescription only. Sermorelin and other GHSs are currently on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s list of prohibited substances.

Meaning that they cannot be used in competitive sports and we wouldn’t recommend their use at all, since their safety is widely unknown. Despite being banned by WADA and unapproved by the FDA for use outside of medicine, GHSs are often available to purchase online without a prescription.

Is it worth it for the gains?

Whilst Sermorelin peptides and other synthetic GHSs may boost muscle growth, promote fat loss and enhance your workouts, are those risks worth it? We certainly don’t think so.

As these drugs were originally designed to treat growth hormone deficiencies, using them outside of prescribed Sermorelin therapy could be dangerous. With little research into their use outside of this, we are currently clueless about potential drug interactions and other long term effects.
