How long do SARMs stay in your system?

Whether you’re wanting to build muscle mass, compete or you’re just looking for the best information on SARMs (selective androgen receptor modulators FYI), you typically discover that the following question constantly comes up:

How long do SARMs stay in your system?

Now, whether it’s because you’re wanting to find out about the detection window of SARMs, or you’re simply trying to learn more about its half life – don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Here we’ll be answering all the common SARMs concerns, including:

  • How long do SARMs stay in your system?
  • What tests are there to test for SARMs?
  • What about SARMs in the military?
  • How long are SARMs detectable?
  • How long does Cardarine stay in your system?

What is a selective androgen receptor modulator?

So, before we go ahead and answer, ‘how long do SARMs stay in your system?’, it’s important that you understand what SARMs actually are, and how they work. Similar to anabolic steroids, SARMs have become increasingly popular in recent years. They work by binding to androgen receptors, triggering a change in your DNA that then stimulates muscle growth. SARMs are “tissue selective” androgen receptor stimulators, meaning they target your muscles without setting off the same chain of reactions as any anabolic activity would.

However, in spite of the fact that it appears to deliver a huge amount of muscle mass and fewer side effects, there are definitely some things you should look out for when delving into these types of ‘dietary supplements’.

Why use SARMs?

Bodybuilders claim that, unlike anabolic steroids, SARMs have fewer and milder side effects. Within bodybuilding crowds, SARMs (selective androgen receptor modulators) are hugely popular because of their ability to enhance muscle growth, boost metabolism for cutting body fat and enhance performance.

There are many athletes and bodybuilders out there that rely on the use of SARMs during sport and competitive bodybuilding events, despite the fact they’re illegal. If you’re worried about SARMs being detected, keep reading to learn more about the likely window of detection, how the drug tests work and information from the World Anti Doping Agency.

How long are SARMs detectable?

In spite of the fact that they are prohibited by the World Anti Doping Agency, SARMs (selective androgen receptor modulators) are still very much alive and present within bodybuilding circles. Although they are not legal to use in a competitive setting, nor recommended at all – since bodybuilding wasn’t the original intended use – many worry about how long SARMs are detectable.

Yep, we’re back with the age-old question: How long do SARMs stay in your system?

SARMs: What can affect the detection window?

When trying to establish how long SARMs stay in your system for, it’s essential to recognize that these types of drugs have different effects on people based on a variety of factors.

Whilst some users may report the half life of SARMs as being relatively short, others may notice that these powerful selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) tend to hang about a little longer. As a SARM’s half life is the time it takes for the drug’s active substances to be reduced by half, this allows us to estimate the time for the drug to disappear completely.

Right, what else do we have to consider? Well, as well as the factors below (weight, metabolic rate, genetics etc), some SARMs users have stated that the detection window of SARMs means you must have had 3x dosage within the last 10 days for a standard test to identify them in your system.

How long do SARMs stay in your system?

Do we trust this, though? The problem is, that we all experience the effects of SARMs, their side effects and even their half life in different ways. We know you’re eager to know, ‘how long do SARMs stay in your system?’ however, it sort of depends.

Basically, it’s better to be safe than sorry if you’re worried about being flagged for drug abuse and you’re wanting to compete. These synthetic substances may well burn fat and support muscle mass growth, but they’re not technically fit for human use – not in a bodybuilding setting, anyway.

Here’s what may affect how long SARMs stay in your system.

Weight

The higher your weight is, the faster the half life of SARMs, meaning they don’t stay in your system for that long. With the half life (the time it takes for your body to reduce the SARM’s active substance by half) reduced, they’ll be gone from your system in no time.

So, if you’re a skinny dude, SARMs are going to be in your body a while longer, meaning it’ll take longer to be expelled from your system.

Now we’ve explained a little further, you can see why the detection window of SARMs kinda depends – with weight being the biggest factor in how long they stay in your system for.

Genetics

If you’re worried about the answer to, ‘how long do SARMs stay in your system?’ I’m afraid there’s not much you’re able to do about genetics as an influence on their half life.

However, your genetics do play a part!

Metabolic rate

This is an element that is typically overlooked when it comes to answering, ‘how long are SARMs detectable for?’ However, we can assure you, it’s an important one.

You’ve most definitely come across the term metabolic rate before now, but in the context of SARMs half life, if you have a fast metabolism, SARMs won’t stay in your system as long compared to someone with a slower metabolism.

There are many factors that can affect your metabolism, including age, gender, hormones, level of physical activity and general health.

Dosage

Whilst SARMs users have reported all of those great things from lean muscles, insane muscle growth to enhanced performance, etc. However, the dosage you decide to use matters hugely when it comes to how long they stay in your system. Not only this, but the dosage you use also affects your testosterone levels, more than any natural product would.

At 100mgs per day, for example, RAD 140 has shown to have a half life of approximately 60 hours. If you were to reduce the dosage, you’re then unlikely to experience the same muscle mass gains and positive effects, but it also means the SARM (selective androgen receptor modulator) won’t stay in your system as long.

How long do SARMs stay in your system? The different ones

The detection windows of different SARMs can range, but with the little scientific data in their use (for bodybuilders), much of the evidence is purely anecdotal.

Even so, here’s what we have found out and learned from bodybuilders that are using these research compounds – and how long they’re likely to stay in your system for.

Ostarine

After last consumption, Ostarine has shown to be detected in a urine test up to nine days later. With Ostarine metabolites easily found in this detection window, if you’re looking to compete, it’s worth allowing a 10 day detection window to get Ostarine out of your system.

You can also check out our review of Ostarine, this covers the benefits, uses and dosage.

Cardarine

One of the most common questions we hear about this SARM is ‘how long does Cardarine stay in your system?’

When put up against similar compounds (GW0742), Cardarine showed to have 10x the number of metabolites in urine.

Research into the detection of Cardarine metabolites has shown it can be traced for up to 40 days. So if you’re looking to use this SARM for muscle mass gains and you’re aiming to compete, I’d steer clear because of all the metabolites. Depending on the dosage used, this would also be an increasing number. But, there are plenty of other androgen receptors out there with a shorter detection window.

RAD 140

Although we touched on the half life and dosage possibilities of RAD 140 earlier, it’s important we recognize the research carried out into its half life and detection window.

One study revealed that RAD 140 can stay in your system and be detected for up to eight days, after a single 10mg dosage. That’s just crazy, right?

As there is very minimal research into these types of substances from a bodybuilder’s perspective, there is no knowing what the detection window could be after an eight-week cycle, for example.

Perhaps take a look at our own research and review of RAD 140 here.

Ligandrol

During an investigation into the metabolism of Ligandrol in human studies, the detection window of Ligandrol was found to be 22 days during a urine test.

In spite of the fact that there is a similar half life between Ligandrol and Ostarine, Ligandrol’s detection window is considerably longer.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that bodybuilders should allow at least 30 days to rid their system of Ligandrol.

Find out more on Ligandrol (LGD 4033) here.

Stenabolic

Currently, there is not much information and research into the metabolites and detection window of Stenabolic (SR9009). However, in terms of drugs testing, Stenabolic can be traced in urine tests.

However, the small amount of research available to us was some time ago now, meaning with testing methods having improved since then no doubt there is now more.

Since there’s no real info on how long Stenabolic stays in your system if we went by user experience we’d hazard a guess at two to three weeks.

MK677

Many bodybuilders have concerns about an MK 677 drug test, especially since studies have shown just one 10mg dose of MK 677 (Ibutamoren) was traceable two weeks later.

We’re not just talking about one little metabolite, either, but multiple traces of ‘drug abuse’ were found.

Concerned about a MK 677 drugs testing? Then, be warned as a single dose will flag up!

YK11

Research carried out on the in vivo metabolism of YK11 found that unconjugated metabolites in urine vanished within the first 24 hours. However, other metabolites could still be traced for 48 hours or longer, maybe even about a week.

If we based this on the anecdotal evidence, bodybuilders have reported YK11 being completely out of their system in about a week or two. Just to be safe, I’d allow at least 14 days.

S23

In that this SARM (selective androgen receptor modulator) hasn’t undergone any human studies or research, there is no real scientific data on S23 and how long it may stay in your system for.

If we had to estimate, I’d say around 15 to 20 days from your last consumption.

Different types of drug test

We’ve all seen a drug test being carried out on TV, but when it comes to being drugs tested for SARMs (selective androgen receptor modulators) ourselves, hell no, you want to run and hide.

If you’re worried and want to know about the different types of tests, keep reading, as you’ll soon find out more about SARMs half life and answers to the following:

  • How long are SARMs detectable in hair tests
  • Blood tests and SARMs
  • Urine testing for SARMs
  • Saliva tests

Urine test

Urine tests are the most commonly used drug test, a test of your urine is the most obvious choice if you’re ever going to be tested for SARMs use.

Blood test

If you’re worried about undergoing a drug test, there’s really not much to worry about where a blood test is concerned.

Whilst a blood test will pick up on signs of lowered hormones such as testosterone (which can occur after a SARMs cycle without PCT), especially LH and SHBG, it’s not necessarily able to determine your use of SARMs.

Hair tests

If you’re wondering, ‘how long are SARMs detectable?’, and you’re concerned about a drug test, hair tests are what’s going to catch you out.

So much so, that hair tests can detect SARMs up to two in your hair follicles. So if you’re thinking, ‘how long do SARMs stay in your system?’ and you’re likely to undergo a hair test, steer clear of SARMs for two months.

Saliva test

As it stands, due to the lack of research, there are no real estimates as to how long SARMs may be detectable in your saliva. However, if we were to hazard a guess, we’d say around 12 hours.

SARMs in the military

Unless you’re ostentatious about your usage of SARMs, SARMs are not typically tested for in the military.

This likely means that SARMs in the military are likely to go somewhat unnoticed unless there are obvious or worrying signs of drug abuse. After all, SARMs are considered a form of drug, especially since they’re prohibited by the World Anti Doping Agency.

In fact, SARMs are illegal for everyday use. Since many SARMs were first developed to treat medical conditions such as cancer or muscle wasting diseases, the only way these types of drugs find their way onto the market is:

  • Sold as ‘dietary supplements’
  • When they are sold as research chemicals
  • Sold illegally

Drug tests: What do they look for?

It’s not just SARMs that a SARMs drugs test will detect. Other steroids, prohormones and other androgen related compounds will also appear.

A SARMs drugs test is pretty pricey, and typically only used by the sport institutions that are suspicious about the use of SARMS.

Your typical, everyday drug test will test for twelve of the most commonly abused substances, commonly referred to as the ’12 panel cup test’. Here, we’re referring to the likes of cocaine, benzodiazepines, marijuana and methamphetamines.

Our conclusion

Well guys, we really hope we’ve answered that burning question: ‘How long do SARMs stay in your system?’

If truth be told, and you want to pass a SARMs urine test, blood test, or whatever it may be, either don’t take any SARMs for 30 days to ensure they’re completely out of your system, or just avoid them entirely.

Sadly for some, there isn’t a way to trick a test for SARMs – it’s better if you just cut down your usage to ensure they’re out of your system, or avoiding their use completely.

Even then, why risk it? Choose safe, legal SARMs alternatives instead

The majority of those concerned about ‘how long do SARMs stay in your system?’ will typically not have anything to worry about, unless they’re being specifically tested for SARMs use.

In most cases, a SARMs drug test is only used by sport institutions, since SARMs are prohibited by the World Anti Doping Agency.

But why risk the detection windows and potential side effects of SARMs?

Here at JuicedUpp, we understand how important building HUGE muscle mass is to you. This is why we’ve carefully developed 100% natural and safe alternatives to bodybuilding SARMs, no anabolic activity here! This means that you can experience MASSIVE GAINS, with the worry of drug testing, side effects, or needles. Not only that, but it means you can stay on your proper diet, not worry about your testosterone levels and achieve the body you want.
